Like Pastoe

For more than 100 years, simplicity, craftsmanship and the highest quality have distinguished the Dutch furniture manufacturer Pastoe. These basic values are reflected in the design of the minimalistic, modular furniture, shelving and cabinet systems. Pastoe has been playing a pioneering role in the field of modern living for a long time.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary exhibition at the Kunsthal Rotterdam, we developed a visually independent identity as well as the accompanying exhibition catalogue to expresses the innovative spirit of the Pastoe brand.

Modernism as a tradition

One of Pastoe’s most famous pieces of furniture is the cabinet system ‘Vision’, which has been produced almost unchanged since the 1980s. The basic module of this system is nothing more than a precisely crafted cube. According to Pastoe, the actual value of the furniture does not determine its design, but the use and creativity of its owner.

 

Identity

The claim ‘Like Pastoe’ as well as the design of the print products are meant as a playful comment on the company’s attitude. The illustrative alienation of the isometric cube symbolizes the universally applicable Pastoe furnitures.


We continued this easygoing way of dealing with the core values of the brand in the exhibition catalogue which acts as an archive of the company’s extensive history.

The exhibition in the light-filled exhibition rooms of the Kunsthal Rotterdam was realized in collaboration with Krijn de Koning and Anne Holtrop.
